Well, I didn't make it to the semi-finals, but this was, understandably, a very competitive contest - especially given what the 13-17 year old finalists wrote. Brilliant ballads, everyone. Here is my entry anyway. It was really fun to write.
"Second only to the Quidditch World Cup in sporting popularity is "War of the Wands," an international wizarding competition similar to the Muggle Olympics. Popular competition categories include troll wrestling, unicorn racing, dueling, dragon fighting, and "Capture the Hag" (rather like Quidditch, but played atop flying hippogriffs). The most anticipated sport of the competition, however, is the Appa-Race: a thrilling game combining Apparition and racing. Competitors must successfully Apparate to ten different countries, overcome dangerous obstacles, then locate and return with the specified magical object from each place. The fastest witch or wizard wins (use of Portkeys is strictly prohibited)."
